Acute and subacute toxicity assessment of an aqueous extract of Crotalaria retusa (Fabaceae) in Swiss mice and Wistar rats

The present study is a contribution to the enhancement of Ivorian traditional medicine, by carrying out bio-tolerance tests an aqueous extract aerial parts Crotalaria retusa (EACr) in mice and rats according guidelines Organization for Economic Co-operation Development (OECD) 423 407, respectively. doses 2000 5000 mg/kg body weight (BW) were used acute toxicity. For subacute toxicity which lasted 28 days, 500, 1000, BW have been used. administration single EACr did not provoke death female setting. (male female), repetitive over period days cause these animals. In females, caused loss decrease platelets. reduced activity AST both sexes rats. findings also showed that this would possess nephroprotective property male rats.
